Blair credited co operative community members for the positive results.
The Summer Safety Initiative came with a $2 million price tag, but Blair said the cost was minimal compared to the expense of investigating the crimes that may have been committed.
Robberies, sexual assaults, break and enter incidents and auto thefts in the city all declined by more than 15 per cent during the safety initiative, according to the police force.
all seven of the force's major crime categories, including gun crime, robbery, assault, sexual violence and homicide.
Crime down after police increase presence
Just over a month later, gunmen sprayed Danzig St. with bullets at the height of a community barbecue. A 23 year old man and 14 year old girl died and another 23 people were sent to hospital in what Blair previously described as the worst example of gun violence in the city's history.

Blair said the force's recent safety blitz should quash those comparisons.

Total offences in all categories declined 29 per cent.
TORONTO Violent crime that marred the first half of the summer dipped sharply across the city last month thanks to a project that saw the city's police force ramp up the number of officers patrolling the streets, Toronto's top cop said Friday.
The number of shooting homicides plunged 87 per cent during the initiative compared to the same time period in 2005, Blair said, adding the number of total homicides declined 79 per cent.
"Our intention through this initiative was to restore a sense of safety in all of our neighbourhoods that were vulnerable to the impacts of violence," Blair told a news conference. "The purpose was to reduce violence, to reduce crime and to reduce fear."
Two men were gunned down and another five people were injured when shots rang out in the food court of the Eaton Centre on June 2.
The seven week initiative which ran from July 26 to Sept. 9 saw 329 officers put in overtime to patrol city streets.
The project was launched in response to a spike in gun and gang violence which police have blamed for two deadly high profile shootings that rocked the city in the early summer months.
Crime in all other areas was also significantly down when compared to the same seven week period seven years ago, Blair said.
The results also compared favourably to the average number of incidents reported between 2005 and 2011. Total homicides plunged 62.2 per cent during the initiative, while gun related slayings decreased even more sharply at 69 per cent. Nike Air Max 90 Black Grey And White
"The evidence is irrefutable proof of the value of working in partnership with our communities," said Blair. "We have demonstrated through this initiative that we can make a difference 1/8by 3/8 working together uniformed officers and the people who live in some of the most vulnerable neighbourhoods."
