Hospital bosses are investigating why the couple were not told to come to hospital on the second and third time they rang and why they were told the maternity unit was full and not accepting women.

"The trust records and reviews all incidents of unplanned home births.
"We were in shock, stunned by what had happened."
I will never forget those moments it was terrifying.
"I was wrestling with the cord and trying to hold him but he was slipping, I can't describe how frightening it was.
Cathy Trinick, head of midwifery at the Pennine Acute Hospitals, said: "I am very sorry that Mr and Mrs Khanna experienced unplanned delivery of their baby at home.
The couple now intend to make an official complaint to prevent a similar situation occuring in the future.
"Reassurance was given by the midwife in response to Mr Khanna's initial telephone call. However, we accept that following subsequent calls Mrs Khanna should have been admitted sooner.
"My mother was looking after our other son, Zak, she heard and came in and held the baby and in the end I ripped it apart and he started to breathe.
Vik said he first called the hospital at 6pm and then again just after 9pm and 10pm.
"When we rang for the fourth time they told us to come in but it was too late we rang an ambulance but they told me I would have to help deliver the baby at home. We could not believe what was happening."
A dad has described the 'terrifying' moment he had to deliver his own son at home and rip the umbilical cord from his neck to prevent him choking to death.
The ambulance was sent after the fourth call but Lorraine, 28, was already in a lot of pain.
Fairfield hospital bosses have apologised but said bed availability had played 'no part' in what happened.
Paramedics arrived five minutes after the delivery and a community midwife half an hour later.
"Bed availability played no part in the decision about when to advise Mrs Khanna to attend hospital.
"When he was born he wasn't breathing, he was purple," said Vik. "His cord was so tight around his neck I couldn't get it off.
Vik, who works in computer sales, took charge of the delivery with his mother, Usha, but was shocked to see Kameron emerge with the cord round his neck.

Kameron who weighed in at 7lb 5oz was born at 1am and is now a happy, healthy boy.
